We're going to begin in one of my favorite hip openers, which is reclined bow angle.
Lower yourself down to the floor.
Bring the soles of the feet together to touch and let your knees drop to the sides.
Palms can rest on your belly.
If you wanted to open up the chest and the shoulders, you can always reach your arms
up overhead.
This first pose helps us to get settled, shrugging the shoulders away from the ears, freeing
up the neck.
If you have your palms on your belly, try to breathe into that space.
Inhaling through the nose and sending the breath all the way down into the lower belly,
deep into the hips, and then to the lower back.
If your hips are quite tight and this pose is uncomfortable, you can always just keep
your feet to the floor with your knees bent.
Take a good five or so deep breaths in the pose.
Letting the knees soften down.
Sending the breath a little bit more with every inhale.
The key to having a longer breath is to really focus on the exhale.
So the more you're able to press all of the air out, the easier it will be for you to
take a longer inhale.
Let's use our hands to the sides of the legs to bring the knees back in towards one another.
Keep your left foot firmly planted to the floor.
You're going to pull your right knee in towards your chest.
