Most of you have, at one time or another, been told about venereal diseases.
You've been frightened, and no doubt you've been warned of the terrible consequences of getting a venereal disease.
These diseases are taking a terrific toll in health, efficiency, and happiness.
But let's take a common sense view of the problem.
Let's look at these various diseases and see what they are, how they are contracted, and most important, how they can be prevented.
We will point out the facts and help you with preventive methods and with cures if necessary.
But in the last analysis, it will be entirely up to you to use your own common sense in protecting yourself.
You can take care of your health if you know these facts and apply that knowledge.
Venereal diseases are caused by specific germs, which are usually transmitted through sex relations with an infected person.
The most effective preventive method, therefore, is continence, or total abstinence from illicit sexual intercourse.
An occasional case will result from non-sexual contact with the germ, but the overwhelming majority of infections are acquired through sex relations.
